Today we’re working on a 2016 Ford F-150 XLT. But not just any Ford F-150. We’re working on MY Ford F-150.
What are we doing with it?

It’s a base model truck with the plain old 3 inch factory screen inside, and it’s time to give this bad boy an upgrade. I’ve been spending so much time upgrading everyone else’s car electronics that I haven’t had time to upgrade my own!

We’re dealing with a new product from Axxess Interface, the AX-DSP digital signal processor. We’re installing it alongside a plug-n-play harness.

Check out the video below, and we’ll walk you through the install.

Rare & Oddball JDM Car Tour: Mazda AZ-1 AutoZam http://carphonix.ca/blog/rare-oddball-jdm-car-tour-mazda-az-1-autozam/ Tue, 17 Oct 2017 14:00:18 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4109 What is up with you all today my internet family, it’s your old buddy Gatlin here from Carphonix, and boy do we have an odd one for you today. And no, it’s not about a car audio installation, but I think you’ll still enjoy this one.

We’ve been having all sorts of weird vehicles showing up in the shop lately, but this one takes the cake. It’s a Mazda AZ-1 AutoZam.

Gullwing doors, a tiny shape, and a strange body type. This little guy is definitely not designed for a big guy like me.

We’ve parked it in the bay beside the Cadillac, and next to that thing you can really get an idea of how tiny it is.

Anyway, I’ll take you through a tour of this weird little ride, including the interior, the engine (spoiler alert: it’s in the trunk), and more.

This guy came to us from Craig at Bonsai Rides, the best JDM vehicle import company in London. If you’re after a set of JDM wheels, Craig is your guy. Tell ‘em Gatlin sent ya!

Anyway, enough talk. Take a look at the video below.

Do you have a car audio system that just doesn’t excite you? Looking to get a little more “oomph” out of your system? Do you want your favourite music to sound fresh, new, and cleaner than that stock audio system you’ve been rolling around in?

If so, give Carphonix a shout.

We’ll listen to what your needs are, help you take a look at your options, and put together a plan to give you the best car audio system on the market that fits with your budget and your ride.

The World’s Most Cost Effective Remote Car Starter http://carphonix.ca/blog/the-worlds-most-cost-effective-remote-car-starter/ Tue, 19 Sep 2017 14:00:16 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4101 What’s happening party people, it’s your pal Gatlin here from Carphonix, your favourite car audio shop.

Today we’re talking about remote car starters. But not just any remote starters – we’re talking about the world’s most cost effective remote starter out there.

What are we working on today? This slick 2014 Dodge Challenger. We’ll be using a Fortin harness, which allows us to “plug and play”, or at least as much as we can with something like this. There’s still some finagling to do, but overall it’s a pretty simple process.

The best part? We can use the factory fob, so you don’t need to worry about another fob bulking up your keys.
Anyway, check out the whole video below.

Got a whip that needs a remote car starter installed? Do you have a car electronics upgrade you’re hoping to get done soon? If so, contact Carphonix today. We’re always happy to chat about car audio, car electronics, or any other ideas you have for your ride.

LIVE Q&A With Craig From Bonsai Rides http://carphonix.ca/blog/live-qa-with-craig-from-bonsai-rides/ Tue, 05 Sep 2017 14:00:34 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4096 What is up my people, it’s your old pal Gatlin here from Carphonix, and we are live!

Well not now, but we were when we made this video. This was a live video we did with Craig from Bonsai Rides. Craig imports JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) rides for people here in Canada. He takes us on a tour of the automobile stereo installation in this Nissan X-Trail, which is pretty old school and has some cool stuff in it you don't see much of these days, including a built in drink cooler!

This specific model is available only in Canada and Japan, so if you’re one of our American or European followers you probably have never seen one of these before.

Craig answers some of your questions about this vehicle, about JDM imports in general, what it takes to insure a JDM vehicle, and more. Check it out below:

Oh, and if you want to get in touch with Craig to find out more about JDM imports or about his business, check him out at bonsairides.com.

Retro Car Audio Systems Installation On A 1969 Beaumont http://carphonix.ca/blog/retro-car-audio-systems-installation-on-a-1969-beaumont/ Tue, 15 Aug 2017 14:00:40 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4090 Hey everyone, Gatlin here from Carphonix.

Do I need to introduce myself like that every time? Who else would it be? Oh well.

Check out what’s going on here today. Rad set of wheels brought in today, an old 1969 Beaumont.

This thing originally belonged to the current owner’s parents, and was stored in a barn for a long time. They decided to restore it, putting a new roof, new seals, all sorts of nice stuff. It’s in fantastic shape now.

So why is it sitting here in my bay? Well, they wanted us to add in one of our nice car stereo systems installs. And you know, I’ve installed a couple of car stereos in my time, so I thought I could figure this one out too.

But what’s the difference here?

Well I couldn’t just carve out a chunk of the dashboard and stick in a slick, modern looking radio with a big touch screen on it, can I? I mean, I can, but it just wouldn’t look right. So I’ve got a cool retro radio piece, which I think looks great. Hopefully you will too.

But I know the reason you guys are REALLY watching this video – to see my new pair of shoes! Oh, and Damien has a new pair too.

Hope you enjoy this one!
