Well not now, but we were when we made this video. This was a live video we did with Craig from Bonsai Rides. Craig imports JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) rides for people here in Canada. He takes us on a tour of the automobile stereo installation in this Nissan X-Trail, which is pretty old school and has some cool stuff in it you don't see much of these days, including a built in drink cooler!

This specific model is available only in Canada and Japan, so if you’re one of our American or European followers you probably have never seen one of these before.

Craig answers some of your questions about this vehicle, about JDM imports in general, what it takes to insure a JDM vehicle, and more. Check it out below:

Oh, and if you want to get in touch with Craig to find out more about JDM imports or about his business, check him out at bonsairides.com.

Did you recently import a new ride that you’d like to upgrade? Looking for a new sound system, alarm, LED lights, or other car electronics enhancements? Then give us a shout.

Retro Car Audio Systems Installation On A 1969 Beaumont http://carphonix.ca/blog/retro-car-audio-systems-installation-on-a-1969-beaumont/ Tue, 15 Aug 2017 14:00:40 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4090 Hey everyone, Gatlin here from Carphonix.

Do I need to introduce myself like that every time? Who else would it be? Oh well.

Check out what’s going on here today. Rad set of wheels brought in today, an old 1969 Beaumont.

This thing originally belonged to the current owner’s parents, and was stored in a barn for a long time. They decided to restore it, putting a new roof, new seals, all sorts of nice stuff. It’s in fantastic shape now.

So why is it sitting here in my bay? Well, they wanted us to add in one of our nice car stereo systems installs. And you know, I’ve installed a couple of car stereos in my time, so I thought I could figure this one out too.

But what’s the difference here?

Well I couldn’t just carve out a chunk of the dashboard and stick in a slick, modern looking radio with a big touch screen on it, can I? I mean, I can, but it just wouldn’t look right. So I’ve got a cool retro radio piece, which I think looks great. Hopefully you will too.

But I know the reason you guys are REALLY watching this video – to see my new pair of shoes! Oh, and Damien has a new pair too.

Hope you enjoy this one!

Clifford Car Alarm Installation Into A Hyundai Tucson http://carphonix.ca/blog/clifford-car-alarm-installation-into-a-hyundai-tucson/ Tue, 01 Aug 2017 14:00:50 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4065

Clifford Car Alarm Installation Into A Hyundai Tucson | Detail of a Hyundai Tucson | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Beautiful day here at Carphonix! Hope everyone’s well today. It’s Gatlin here, your car audio pal.

Today we’re doing some work for Georgian Bay Fire And Safety. They contracted us to install some security systems on their vehicles, so you’ll get an inside scoop into that.

We’re also digging into a motorcycle we’ve worked on before, a nice Harley with a hell of a sound system on it. We put marine equipment on it, naturally, since a motorcycle doesn’t exactly have the protection a car does. It’s important to note, though, that marine equipment is only water resistant – it’s not waterproof. You’ll be fine in a bit of rain, but if you dunk your bike in the river, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Anyway, buddy was having trouble with the FM signal on his radio, so we’ll jump in and make some repairs.

But the main part of this video is doing a Clifford car alarm system installation into a Hyundai Tucson. We’ll dig into that bad boy at about 6:00 in, so if you want to skip all my rambling before the install gets going, you know what to do.

A New Stereo In A Harley, A Backup Cam In A Porsche, And More! http://carphonix.ca/blog/a-new-stereo-in-a-harley-a-backup-cam-in-a-porsche-and-more/ Tue, 18 Jul 2017 14:00:19 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4078

A New Stereo In A Harley, A Backup Cam In A Porsche, And More! | Harley's Dashboard | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

G’day my internet people, Gatlin here once again from Carphonix.

AND LET ME TELL YOU

We’re working on some pretty sick stuff today, including a backup cam car electronics installation.

First off, I scare the hell out of Damien, the man with nerves of steel. I’ve been trying for years, and I finally got him! Hah!

Now on to the installs.

We did some work on a 2013 Harley Davidson, including a pair of Kicker PS692’s. Keep watching and you’ll get a nice little demo from NCS, a record label that won’t harass me for copyright infringement if I play more than 5 seconds of their music. The first tune is called A World Away by Inukshuk, and the next is Lost by Kontinuum Feat. Savoi. I know you don’t get the full experience through my camera, but trust me, this thing is LOUD

Next, we’ve got an “I thought I could do it myself job”. The owner of this truck thought he could install his deck on his own, but he wasn’t able to. He showed up with all the guts hanging out, and we finished it up. Standard stuff.

BUT

We’re also working on a 2017 Porsche Macan S, a very sexy car. I can’t believe it didn’t come with a back-up camera considering how much you pay for one of these things, but it didn’t. So the owner came to us.

Check the video out below!

The Shop Is In A ZONE! http://carphonix.ca/blog/the-shop-is-in-a-zone/ Tue, 11 Jul 2017 14:00:56 +0000 http://carphonix.ca/?p=4075

The Shop Is In A ZONE! | Hand pushing a touchpad dashboard | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Hey everyone, Gatlin here from Carphonix, and today the shop is in a ZONE!

A commercial zone? Well yeah, but that’s not what I mean.

A DANGER ZONE? Sort of.

I mean we’re in a DISASTER ZONE.

After a long day’s work, this shop sure does get messy. If you want to skip my rambling, skip forward to about 4:15.

As for the installs, Craig arrived today with a BMW M Coupe. Pretty slick car you don’t see every day. I think they’re only available in the US so you don’t see them in Canada too often. After some finagling, I convinced him to let me take it for a little ride while he takes over camera duties. You’ll get a little tour of the neighbourhood while we shoot the shit.

Jared stops by too to show us his new install, which looks slick and sounds great too. You’ll get a little demo of that.

We’re going to pull the radio out of it and replace it with a new car sound system installation.

Overall there are all sorts of odds and ends in today’s video. Check it out!
