How To Remove Faded Window Tint | Carphonix London Ontario car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair

Hey everyone, it’s Gatlin once again from your favourite car electronics installation shop, Carphonix.

Now, I know you know that removing faded window tinting is not one of the services we offer here. But I know you also know we’re car enthusiasts here. I got my start in this business tinkering around with my first car before I got properly certified to do what I do here. And I’m still a bit of a tinkerer, if I’m honest. In my spare time, I like to work on my car. I guess I just don’t get enough of it at work!

And yeah, this is one of those things that falls firmly OUTSIDE the realm of car electronics, but it’s also something that might just bug the heck out of you. It bugged me, that’s for sure.

I’ve had my Nissan 300zx for a long time, and I’ve put a lot of work into it over the years. Imagine having a pristine, spectacular looking vehicle, only to have the crappy old window tint bubbling up like that? It’s like completely renovating your home and having it in perfect condition, only to leave your crummy broken old front door there.

So yeah, let’s fix that, huh? Here’s how I figured it out.

What NOT To Do When Installing Car Audio On Your Honda Civic | Carphonix London Ontario car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair

Hey hey hey everyone, it’s me once again, your old buddy Gatlin from Carphonix here in beautiful London Ontario Canada.

I know we talk a lot about car audio installations. And that makes sense, right? Car audio is a big part of what we do here. We post a lot of videos on car audio, to give you a better idea of what to look for when choosing your car audio installation shop. And I know a lot of you are DIY tinkerers too, and that’s cool. I got started that way too.

But look, there’s a right way and a wrong way of doing things. And this customer here, he definitely did things the WRONG way.

He brought in his 2000 Honda Civic, and look, this thing is an electrical nightmare. At one point it had some Lamborghini doors, which were then taken off. But when it had those doors, they had to extend all the wires from the door into the body of the car, and they did a pretty crappy job of it. So this job is a bit more than what we usually do.

I’m going to have to take the entire fender off to rewire it, as well as rip out the hack job that was the car alarm system he installed in here. Oh man, what a mess.

Aside from the absolute mess of wiring, some of the upgrades in this are actually pretty cool. Or at least, they were when it must have been done back in 2005 or so back when everyone was Tokyo drifting.

Just wait until you see what’s hiding behind the bumper on this thing. Anyway, what are you waiting for? Click the video below to check it out.

Is This A Canadian Or A Japanese Car? | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Hey guys, it’s me again, Gatlin from Carphonix, your one stop shop for all things custom car electronics.

If you’re a Canadian like me, you might recognize the car in this video as a Nissan X-Trail. Ditto if you’re from Japan. Why? That’s the only two countries where this particular vehicle is available.

Yep, Americans, Europeans, Mexicans, whoever, you’re missing out. Did you realize your whip was so unique in the world?

Anyway, Craig brought this bad boy over to dig into it.

There are some differences between the Canadian and Japanese models, of course. For example, you might notice this is a right-side drive. So, clearly not Canadian. As well, the Canadian version has dials for the climate control and 4×4, whereas this one is all digital.

It’s got some pretty cool features as well, including a built in can cooler. That’s right, if you want to keep your drinks cool while you’re on the road, this little fellah will do it for ya! It’s tied into the air conditioner.

Craig and I are going to take you on a tour of this guy. We’ll take a look under the hood, the interior, the body, and check out some of the differences. As always, if you’re interested in bringing in a JDM ride, check out Craig’s business Bonsai Rides.

But hey, enough of this. Check out the video below.

Call Carphonix

Whatever your ride, we’ve got a solution for you.

Are you looking for a better stereo? An alarm system? A remote starter? Winter is coming, after all.

In the market for better headlights, or heated seats? Or, would you just like to know why that check engine light popped up?

Whatever it is you need, if it has to do with car electronics, we’ve got you covered.

It’s that time once again ladies, gentlemen, and everybody else. It’s time for some fun from the land of custom car audio installations, CarPhonix. I’m your host, Gatlin.

And today we’ve got a 1977 Cadillac DeVille to play with. Is this a sweet ride or what? Is this a customer’s whip? Nope, it’s actually my dad’s car. He doesn’t show up on the channel very often, but if you ever stop in at the shop you’re likely to find my dad Dev sitting behind the front desk.

He grabbed himself this classy ride so he could ride with class. It’s in absolutely phenomenal shape, both inside and out. It’s bloody enormous too. Check out how wide it is!

It’s got original just about everything where it counts. Including the original stereo of course – we’ll have to do something about that. But I just love this thing, it’s so cool.

There’s just so much weird stuff in this car. Are you old enough to remember when there was not only an ash tray on every door, but a cigarette lighter too? If not, you’ll see what it was like. Believe it or not, it’s got cruise control too – probably one of the only cars out there to have both lighters on every door and cruise control.

We’re gonna take a look under the hood too, and a tour of just about every inch of this car, inside and out. It’s just so rare to find something this old in such fantastic condition, so I thought all of you, my internet pals, would appreciate it.

Enough of my yakking, go watch the video!

A HUGE Problem In The Auto Insurance Industry | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Here I am once again, the same old new and improved Gatlin, that guy who installs audio systems in trucks , cars, or whatever else you bring to us that has wheels and a motor – or sometimes not even that!

So what am I talking about today? It’s a bit of a different topic. I’ve got on my pal Lee Thibodeau, great guy, and we’re going to talk about the auto insurance industry and how it fails paraplegic people.

Now you might be surprised to learn that paraplegic people can drive cars, but it’s true. They make custom models to allow you to operate the vehicle with just your hands. That’s great, because it gives people the opportunity to be more self sufficient.

But what happens when you need to make an auto insurance claim? That’s what happened with Lee just recently. His truck was stolen, in fact. If your car got stolen, what would you do? Call your insurance company, of course. And they’d get you a rental car until you were able to recover your car or buy a new one.

That’s all well and good for us able-bodied folk. But if you’re like Lee and paraplegic, they can’t give you just any car. So what’s a guy to do?

Lee, being the unstoppable guy that he is, rigged up a system on his own to control the car, but it’s far from ideal.

Why don’t insurance companies have hand-control vehicles available?

It’s unfortunate, but Lee is now working with the insurance companies to make sure this isn’t a problem. That’s what I love about Lee, he doesn’t let things like this get him down. He’s unstoppable!

Check out the video below:

Are you worried about your own car getting stolen? It’s a sad reality that this is a possibility. And the factory alarm that may have come with your vehicle might not go quite far enough.

But don’t worry. CarPhonix has you covered. Give us a shout, and let’s talk about what you need to keep your ride safe and sound.

The Mazda AutoZam AZ-1 Review & Tour | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Hey hey hey everyone, Gatlin here once again, your main man when it comes to electronics installs in your motorcycle, car, truck, boat, golf cart, or whatever. If it’s got wheels, we can make it look and sound great.

So you may have noticed we’ve posted a few videos recently about the Mazda AutoZam AZ-1. That’s thanks to our pal Craig over at to Craig over at Bonsai Rides, a biz in Glencoe, Ontario, just outside of London. He imports a lot of JDM cars.

What Does JDM Stand For?

JDM stands for Japanese Domestic Market. A JDM car is a car built for Japanese audiences, but it generally refers to performance and luxury cars. Because they were built with Japanese regulations in mind, some of these cars are incredibly difficult to import. A lot of them are actually illegal to drive on Canadian or US highways.

In Canada, a JDM car has to be at least 15 years old in order to import it and legally drive it on Canadian roads, though there are sometimes exceptions for show or track cars.

Anyway, enough about that. Craig has brought a couple of AutoZam AZ-1’s to the shop here over the years. There’s a lot that’s cool about them, but it dawned on me that all of you might be confused about why they’re so interesting.

Lucky for us, Craig put together this great little documentary on his own channel about these things.

It’s a pretty short video, just 13 minutes long, but it’s really well done and informative. Check it out! If you’re paying close attention, you might notice the shout out to CarPhonix at 5:01. Thanks Craig!

If you watch the video above, you may notice the red AZ-1. That’s the same one Craig found in a barn a few months back, and restored. The electronics inside are all courtesy of CarPhonix.

Are you looking to upgrade your car audio? Want to keep your ride safe with a car alarm? Need a remote car starter for those cold winter mornings? For this, and much more, give us a shout. You can find us using the information below:

What is good my people, here I am once again, your old buddy old pal Gatlin from CarPhonix Car Audio, THE place to be for everything related to cool car electronics.

If you’ve been following the channel for a while, you’ll notice we’ve talked about the Mazda AutoZam AZ-1 before. That’s thanks to Craig over at Bonsai Rides, a JDM import biz. He loves these things, and this isn’t the first one he’s brought by. In fact, we’ve done videos on them before – check them out here and here.

But this one is different. It’s a barn find.

What’s a barn find? It’s a vehicle, usually a car, found in storage that’s been neglected for a long time. What’s fun about these cars is that it’s a full project to restore them to their former glory.

It’s a lot of fun for guys like myself and Craig who just love cars and seeing a damaged, broken ride return to looking spectacular.

Anyway, we’ve got a full job we’re going to be doing on this puppy. For starters – this one is yellow. If you know much about the AutoZam AZ-1, you’ll know that they were never painted yellow – this was a change made by its previous owner. So what we’re going to do is take all the panels off it, and returning them to their original red colour.

We’re also going to add a wing to the back of it, like the blue one we had in the shop. We’re going to document the whole process, so if you’ve got an AutoZam yourself you can see how it’s done.

Check it out!

So I know we’re talking about paint jobs here, but we’re not a paint shop, we’re a car electronics shop.

That means if you want a killer new car stereo installed, we’ve got you covered. It also means we’ve got your back when it comes to heated seats, LED lights, car alarms, remote car starters, and a whole lot more.

LIFE HACK: Using Cue Cards To Paint Your Wheel Wells | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Here I am once again, your old faithful internet buddy Gatlin here at CarPhonix, lord and master of all I survey.

Today, we’ve got something a little different for all y’all.

In fact, it’s got nothing at all to do with car audio. And no, that’s not a trick comment either – it’s got nothing to do with car video, or truck audio, or heated seats in your motorcycle, or car electronics period.

It’s got to do with painting. Specifically, painting your wheel wells.

Now I know we’re not a car paint shop. And we’re not pretending to be. We’re a car electronics shop. But we’re also car enthusiasts ourselves, which should be obvious. We’re also tinkerers – it’s how I got into car audio in the first place.

So when it comes to cleaning up our rides, you’ll often find us DIY-ing it.

Which is what you’re going to see in this video. I recently got myself a camper, and hey, the wheels were ugly. So I wanted to paint them, naturally. But what a hassle it would be to actually take the tires apart.

So instead, I used a set of cue cards to tape off the tire. Check it out!

If you want to hire someone to paint your car, call someone else – we might DIY our own stuff, but when it comes to hiring, hire a professional.

So what should you hire us for?

Anything to do with car electronics.

Want a new car stereo? No problem, we’ve got you covered.

How about a remote car starter installation? We live in Canada, after all. No problem there either.

A new car alarm? Yep, we got you.

LED headlights? Heated seats? A video screen to keep the kids busy? A parking assist camera?

If it’s got wires attached to it, we can help.

Full Marine Audio Installation in a boat | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

How’s it goin’ my pals, my friends, my internet buddies, it’s Gatlin once again from your friendly neighbourhood car installation shop, CarPhonix.

And today we’re doing a full marine audio system installation.

“But Gatlin,” you might be thinking, “your business is called CARPhonix, not BoatPhonix.”

Yes, yes it is. But we also have a sub-brand, AquaPhonix, that deals with marine audio and electronics installations.

Because hey, when you love your tunes, it doesn’t matter what’s under your ride. Asphalt or aqua, we’ve got you covered.

We do more cars than boats, which shouldn’t be a surprise, since more people have cars than boats. After all, we don’t live in Venice, or some other city that has water instead of streets.

There are some unique challenges when it comes to marine audio, and most of it has to do with the fact that it’s a lot more likely to get soaked. So we’ll walk you through the process.

Check it out!

Contact CarPhonix Car Audio

So yeah, we do boats. Do you have a boat with a crummy audio system you’d like to upgrade?

Boats can often last longer than cars, since we generally use them a lot less. And if you have a boat with an outboard motor, it’s a lot easier to replace than a car’s motor. So as a result, you might have a boat from the 80’s or earlier that still rides clean, but the stereo in it is a stinker, if it even exists at all.

But don’t worry, CarPhonix has you covered.

Whatever your ride is, we’ve got an audio solution for you. Give us a shout using the information below.

Gatlin from your friendly neighbourhood car audio shop, CarPhonix, here in beautiful London Ontario Canada.

So what’s up today my friends?

You know here at CarPhonix, we’ll work on whatever kind of car you bring us. Minivans or SUVs, sedans or hatchbacks, or motorcycles, you name it. We’ve even worked on a golf cart before.

Yep, we’ll take whatever it is you drive, and we’ll make your stereo sound great.

But you know, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to find out that here at CarPhonix, we’re kind of into cars.

So when somebody drives in with a beautiful 2008 Audi R8, it kind of catches our attention, y’know?

So today we’re going to run down this install, and show you how you can do this as well, if you happen to drive a 2008 Audi R8, that is.

Enough typing, check out the video!
