Carphonix Trip Down Memory Lane! | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

It’s hard to believe how long I’ve been in this business.

I’ve seen a lot of cool stuff during that time.

I’ve worked on Porsches, Ferraris, Jaguars, Mercedes, boat electronics installs, and most of the cars I drooled over in the pages of Car and Driver or Motor Trend.

And I’m grateful for it, I really am.

But today I took a trip down memory lane and watched my VERY FIRST YouTube video.

That’s right, this bad boy today is a piece of Carphonix history.

This video dates all the way back to February 29th, 2012.

That’s right, leap day.

Special, huh?

It was shot at our old location in Ingersoll, Ontario.

Not the first ever Carphonix shop, which wasn’t much more than a tiny garage in a beat up old barn.

No, this was the first location we had where I felt proud to have customers stop by.

What’s the video about?

It’s about how to install HID lights into a 2010-2012 Hyundai Tucson.

So if that’s what you’re driving, and you want HID lights in it, this video will help you.

But for those of you who are just fans of the channel, you might get a kick out of this.

Enjoy how young my voice sounds too – I had no idea it changed so much in the last six years!

We’ve come a long way since this video was shot, expanding to take care of just about every different facet of car electronics.

Whether you’re looking for a better audio system, a remote car starter, a security system, video to keep the kids busy, heated seats, LED lights, or a custom project, we’ve got you covered.

Have you ever had people request that you give them a tour of your toolbox?

I have, a lot.

And you know, my box is smaller than it should be, but it’s hard to justify spending ten grand on a bigger toolbox when I could spend that money on better tools in the first place.

That said, ya gotta put all that stuff somewhere!

Anyway, that’s what this video is about today.

Now, a lot of what you see in here isn’t going to matter for all the DIY-ers I know are fans of my channel.

If you’re working on your car at home, you won’t need some of the weird and oddball stuff I’ve got.

And some of the stuff is going to be pretty boring too.

For example, my collection of screwdrivers – they’re just screwdrivers, boys and girls nothing you haven’t seen before.

To do car installs right, you need the tools!

Here’s what we got.

What is up my gang, my people, my internet family, it’s Gatlin once again, from your friendly neighbourhood car electronics shop, Carphonix, right here in beautiful London Ontario Canada.

Did you know we do car audio?

Of course you do, that’s the most obvious part of our business and it’s one of the more popular services we offer.

But we do a lot more too.

From car alarms to remote car starters, heated seats to in-car video systems, we can help with pretty much anything you need related to car electronics.

We can even help you with your check engine light!

But one thing I’m asked about more and more these days is car headlight upgrades.

The headlights that come with some cars are just those plain old halogen ones.

They’ll do the job, but you can do better.

These days, a lot of people are going for LED lights.

Not only are they energy efficient, they’re brighter, and you can arrange them in cool patterns too.

But with so many different products on the market, what’s the best choice?

This week, Auxbeam sent us a sample of their Cree Hi-lo beam sealed beam headlights for us to test drive.

So we’re gonna give ’em a whirl!

Oh yeah, and remember the Carphonix Slam Van?

So what are you waiting for?

SO, this is what’s up today my people.

Gatlin here once again from Carphonix, THE place to be if you’re looking for some slick custom car electronics accessories.

And as a lot of you probably know, I’m a big fan of the Nissan Z series of cars.

And yes, I pronounce it zed, like a good Canadian fellah!

Anyway, if you’ve watched some of my other videos you probably know my pride and joy is my 1986 Nissan 350ZX Turbo, a car I’ve owned for more than a decade now.

I’ve put a hell of a lot of love into that one.

If you want to know more about that, check out my video on it, where I spend about fifteen minutes showing you everything I’ve done to it.

But this post isn’t about my car, it’s about someone else’s car!

This is a gorgeous burnt orange 2006 Nissan 350Z, a slick ride if I’ve ever seen one.

And the owner just isn’t happy with his stereo, so we’re giving him a nice little boost.

For today’s recipe, the ingredients are as follows:

• Pioneer AVH-1330NEX receiver
• Metra 99-7602 dash kit
• Metra 70-7550 harness
• Axxess ASWC-1 steering wheel control
• Cigarette lighter adapter

Sirius Satellite Radio Install On A Honda Civic | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Hello hello hello my wonderful lovely beautiful internet friends, it’s your old pal Gatlin here once again from Carphonix, the place to be to get a killer new sound system in your car, truck, bike, or even your boat.

So what’s happening today?

We’ve got a simple little installation in a Honda Civic.

These are some of the most common cars out there, and they’re also some of the most commonly modified ones too.

That’s because they’re relatively inexpensive, reliable, and easier to tinker with than many other cars on the road.

If you like to tinker with your wheels, chances are you’ve had a Civic sitting in your driveway at some point in your life.

Anyway, we’re doing some basic stuff today, an install of a Sirius satellite radio receiver.

We’re going to make sure it’s nice and slick, and I’ll show you some cool ways to make it work if your factory radio doesn’t have an auxiliary input.

We’ll also show you how to install the antenna receiver on the inside of your vehicle.

Yeah yeah I know, they say you should put it on the outside of your car, but here in Canada we have this little thing called winter.

The snow, salt, and grime all over the road will grind up your antenna.

Whoever built these things must live somewhere warm!

Anyway, enough of my rambling here.

Check out the video below.

The Carphonix SLAM VAN! | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Good morning, good day, good evening, whatever time it is where you are in the world, I hope it’s a good one!

It’s me, Gatlin from Carphonix, your one-stop shop for all your car and truck audio installation needs.

So what’s the good word from us?

It’s the Carphonix SLAM VAN.

We bought this silly thing a few weeks ago, and yeah it’s not the nicest looking van in the entire world, but hey – it’s what we got!

Why do we got it?

It’s not a customer project.

No no no, it’s a Carphonix in house project.

This van wasn’t cheap.

Yeah it’s beat up, old, and pretty ugly, but you’d be amazed at how expensive these things can get.

It’s probably because they’re just so darn useful if you’re a contractor or a plumber or something.

But hey, all that room that would be jam-packed with plungers and power tools is instead going to be stuffed with the most beastly sound system you’ve ever heard!

This bad boy needs A LOT of work, not just with the electronics but with the body, the paint – just about everything.

Betcha didn’t know your pal Gatlin knew how to do body work, did ya?

So what are we putting in it?

A wall of woofers, a clean 2-channel setup in the front, we’ve got lots of ideas about what to do with this thing.

Watch the video below to find out more.

What NOT To Do With Your Car Electronics | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

Top of the mornin’ to all y’all, it’s your pal Gatlin here from Carphonix – the place to be for all your car electronics installs and upgrades.

This week, we’ve got a 2000 Honda Civic we’re playing with, and hoo boy is this thing a nightmare.

At some point, it had Lamborghini doors, which were both then removed.

The owner painted the inside nicely, but he also completely tore it apart and modified it like crazy.

Some of the mods are cool – or at least they were back in the mid-2000’s when it was originally done.

And despite all the horrendous wiring, it’s actually fared pretty well for the most part.

But because of those Lamborghini doors, they had to rewire the whole thing and send some electronics behind the fender.

We’re also pulling the alarm system out and replacing it.

When you see us taking this thing apart, you’ll get a peek into just about everything you should NOT do with your car electronics.

Watch the video below, and you’ll see what I mean.

In the end, we’ve got a huge pile of old, beat up, poorly wired electronics, but a good sounding car!

In particular, take a look at the video at 3:30 (the original wiring), and compare it with 18:30 (our wiring) to see the Carphonix difference!

Back Up Cam Installation On A 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse | Carphonix car audio video alarms electronics accessories remote starters installation repair London Ontario

What is it that is up my friends and fellow YouTube citizens, it’s Gatlin here from Carphonix in beautiful London Ontario.

It’s been a little while since we made a video, but there have been some changes at the shop which took up a lot of my time.

But now we’re back in the swing of things.

Today we’ve got a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

If you’re familiar with these cars, you’ll know about the HORRIBLE blindspot in these things.

And that ain’t no good.

So today we’re going to be installing a back up cam.

As you’ll see, he’s already got an aftermarket radio installed.

We need to do an update on that bad boy, but it’s going to be the screen for the cam.

We’re installing an Echomaster pro lip mount camera.

Because of the way the Eclipse is made, it just makes the most sense for us to use one of these.

You’ll see the process of how we install a dash cam, and just how much bloody work it takes to git’r done.

Go ahead, check out the video below.
